Assia: Israel’s cosmetics exports growing

Yechiel Assia director general of Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute (IEICI) said last week that in 2005 Israel’s cosmetics exports totaled $204 million, 7.3% more compared to 2004

Assia predicted that in 2006 Israel's cosmetics exports would grow by 22%, to $250 million.
The Export Institute plans this year to focus on several target markets, including the US and Russia, in order to increase cosmetics exports.

Based on foreign data the IEICI estimates that the global cosmetics market stands at $33 billion, and is growing in recent years by an annual average of 9%. The US cosmetics market is estimated at $8 billion, and the Eastern European market is estimated at over $2 billion.

Assia also noted that the Export Institute plans to promote a global brand identity of Israeli cosmetics.
