A high ranking delegates representing some 15 Russian communications companies arrived to Israel last Wednesday as guests of the Israel Export Institute and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor with the objective of expanding partnerships with local communications companies and sharing ideas with Israel's communications leaders.

According to Yechiel Assia, director general of Israel's Export Institute, Russia's annual communication equipment market is worth some $4 billion and the country hopes to expand the number of Israeli companies currently operating in its communications market over the coming years.

Assia also noted that over the fourth quarter of 2006, Israel's exports of communication equipment to Russia declined by 40% from figures reached in parallel period in 2005 and that the two countries expect this number to once again to reach levels it enjoyed in the past
