The Israeli Consumer Confidence Index for the month of August rose to 80.2 points and crossed the 80 point level for the first time since September 2009

The Israeli Consumer Confidence Index for the month of August, compiled by Globes Research and PricewaterhouseCoopers Israel (pwc), rose by 2.7 points in August to 80.2 points.

The index crossed the 80-point level for the first time since September 2009. The CCI fell 5.8 points in July (baseline 100 = 1996).

The Consumer confidence index (CCI) is an economic indicator which measures the degree of optimism that consumers feel about the overall state of the economy and their personal financial situation.

The Consumer Confidence Index has three components: respondents' answers about the current economic situation, their assessment of the economic situation in six months, and their assessment about their personal economic circumstances in six months.

In a statement issued by Globes Research and PricewaterhouseCoopers Israel it was noted that the improvement in the CCI in August stands in apparent contradiction to consumers' increased insecurity during the month.
