The drop of 46% compared to last year brought the vehicles imported to 12,837
The number of vehicles imported to Israel in August 2012 was 12,837 compared to 23,643 imported in August 2011, a drop of 46%. The drop can be attributed in the main to importers increasing their imports during July due to the increase in VAT to 17% which came into effect in September.
The average number of cars imported during July and August was 19,000 slightly higher compared to the monthly average during the first half of 2012.
Between January and August 146,695 cars were imported a drop of 11.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2011. As far as commercial vehicles 583 were imported in August a drop of 66% compared to the parallel.
The central bureau of statistics reported last week that in 2011 the annual kilometers traveled by cars, increased by 1.7%. Private Car’s Annual kilometers traveled - 16,800 Km
