A study conducted by Business Data Israel (BDI), based on figures published by the World Trade Organization (WTO), shows that Israel was in eighth place worldwide in per capita exports for 2004.
 
According to BDI:
- Israel exported US$5,426.5 per capita. In 2003, Israel was in ninth place worldwide with almost US$4,600 in per capita exports.

-  In 2004Israel’s exports of goods totaled US$37 billion, 0.6% of total global exports, putting Israel in 26th place in the world in total exports.

- Israel’s imports of goods in 2004 totaled US$43 billion,( US$6,382 in per capita ) 0.6% of total global imports, putting Israel in 23rd place in the world in total imports.

- Israel’s US$6,382 in per capita imports puts it in eighth place in the world.

- Singapore and Hong Kong exceeded Israel in terms of exports per capita with US$ 41,744.2 and US$39,073.5 respectively. According to the WTO the other countries that ranked higher than Israel were the UAE - US$18,488.4, Norway- US$17,826.1, Switzerland -US$16,000, Canada - US$10,094, and Taiwan - US$7,947.4.

BDI also noted that Israel was the number one exporter of certain goods, including fertilizers - 57% share of total world exports, industrial lubricants 34% share, and polished diamonds 26% share of total world exports.
 
According to data published by the WTO, world exports in 2004 reached US$6.6 trillion. The EU, the U.S., China, Japan and Canada constituted 53% of the total world exports and 60% of total imports.
 
Israeli exports reached US$37 billion in 2004, accounting for 0.6% of world exports and ranking Israel in the 26th place among the top world exporters.
Israel’s imports reached US$43 billion, also amounting to 0.6% of the world’s total imports and placing Israel in 23rd place among the world’s biggest importers.
