The Minister of Finance, Benjamin Netanyahu, met last week (27/01/05) in London with his British counterpart, Gordon Brown. During the meeting, Mr. Netanyahu invited Mr. Brown to visit Israel during the year. Mr. Brown stated in response that he would be delighted to visit at the head of a British business delegation.

At the meeting, Mr. Netanyahu and Mr. Brown discussed, among other things, the need for Western economies to find new areas of activity in view of the rising proportion of global production that is moving to Third World countries. The British fear that 50 percent of goods sold in the UK will come from Third World countries in less than a decade, as against 25 percent today.

After the meeting, Mr. Netanyahu appeared at a special conference with the participation of 200 institutional investors. At the conference, he gave a presentation on the Israeli economy and the possibilities of investing in Israel.
