The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) published last week its latest foreign trade statistics indicating that in January-February 2006, goods exports to the EU fell by an annualized 6.4%
Exports to the US, however, were up by annualized 14% and exports to Asia rose by 15% and to the rest of the world by 6.2%.
Exports in January-February 2006 totaled $4.2 billion, of which 35% was to the EU, 30% to the US, 15% to Asia and the remaining 20% to other countries.
The CBS also noted that in January-February 2006 goods imports from the US fell by an annualized 14.8%, while imports from the EU were up by an annualized 3.7%. Imports from Asia, however, jumped by annualized 20% while imports from the rest of the world rose 4%.
Imports in January-February 2006 totaled $6.2 billion, of which 39% was from the EU, 19% from Asia, 13% from the US and 29% from the rest of the world.
In January-February 2006 Israel had a trade surplus of $449 million with the US and trade deficits of $946 million with the EU, $597 million with Asia and $965 million with the rest of the world.
