According to figures released last week by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) Israel's GDP grew by 5.9% for the first half of 2006. The CBS pointed out that during the same period, the growth of the business sector was even greater, rising 7.4% for the six months period.
 
According to the published figures, the numbers reflect 25.8% growth in exports of goods and services. GDP growth was 6.2% in the second quarter of 2006, with 5.9% growth in the first quarter.

The figures represent the period before the war in Lebanon.
