The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported last week that incoming tourism was recovering slowly from the effects of the second Lebanon war.
 
Data released by the CBS show that 99,850 tourist visited Israel in September 2006, 16.75% fewer than the 122,200 tourists who visited in August.
 
11,500 tourists entered Israel by land in September, 41% fewer than in September 2005. 88,330 tourists entered Israel by air in September, 19.7% fewer than in September 2005.
 
The CBS noted that the September tourist entries to Israel were down 43% from the 174,700 tourist entries registered in June, before the war, and entries by air were down 42% from 152,370.
 
In January-September, however, 1.43 million tourists entered Israel, an increase of 0.9% compared to the 1.41 million entries registered in the corresponding period of 2005.
