The Central Bureau of Statistics ( CBS ) reported last week that Industrial exports fell by an annualized 1.8% in April-June 2005, and total exports, excluding diamonds, fell by an annualized 2.3%.
The CBS pointed out that the overall decrease in exports was different among the various sectors.
High-tech exports, half of total exports, was in the April-June period up by an annualized 7.8%, however, mixed-high-tech exports, a third of total exports, was down by an annualized 13.6%.
The Central Bureau of Statistics noted that exports of advanced medical and scientific monitoring equipment and communications equipment rose by an annualized 3.9%, but exports of machinery and equipment fell by an annualized 20.7%.
The Central Bureau of Statistics also reported that Q2 shows an annualized drop of 1.4% in exports by mixed-low technology industries i.e. rubber and plastics, mining and quarrying and basic metal products.
