Exports to Asia were up by an annualized 28.3% in November 2006 –January 2007. Imports  totaled US$6.8b in January 2007–February 2007 period

The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) announced last week that exports in December 2006-February 2007 to the US and EU, remained on the same level as in the three months period September-November 2006.
 
Imports from the US were up by an annualized 15% in December 2006-February 2007, imports from the EU rose by an annualized 8%, imports from Asia rose by an annualized 42%, and imports from the rest of the world rose by an annualized 9%.
 
In a press release the CBS noted that exports to Asia were up by an annualized 28.3% in November 2006 –January 2007, and exports to the rest of the world rose by an annualized 5.7%, both less than in the preceding three month period.
 
Imports, excluding fuel, diamonds, ships and planes, were up by an annualized 10% in December 2006 –February 2007, while exports, excluding diamonds, rose 6.6%. Exports totaled US$4.9b: 36% to the EU, 27% to the US, 15% to Asia, and 22% to the rest of the world.
 
Imports, excluding diamonds, totaled US$6.8b in January 2007 – February 2007.
Of these, 37% came from the EU, 21% from Asia, 15% from the US and the rest from the rest of the world.
