The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported last week that based on preliminary monthly trend data, the unemployment rate in Israel fell again in July, and at the end of that month stood at 6.2% - a drop of 0.1% from 6.3% the levels in May and June, and the lowest unemployment level since the beginning of the world financial crisis in late 2008.
The CBS noted that the high point of unemployment during the crisis was in May 2009, when 7.9% of those seeking a job could not find one. The last time unemployment was this low was in September 2008.
Recently published quarterly figures showed that Q2/10 unemployment was 6.2%. However, there was also a rise in the number of workers who are involuntarily employed part time, meaning they were seeking full time work but did not find it. There was also a drop in the number of full time workers.
