The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) announced last week that Israel’s unemployment fell by a further 0.2% to 7.3% in Q3/07 compared to 7.5% in Q2/07. The CBS noted that the present unemployment rate is the lowest rate in 11 years.
In a detailed statement the CBS noted that the monthly average number of unemployed was 213,000 during the third quarter, of whom 105,300 were men and 103,400 were women.
Unemployment fell to 7.5% in September from 8.5% in January. The CBS also noted that the number of employed persons rose in the third quarter to an all-time high of 2.77 million. Participation in the labor force has risen to 56.7%: 61.8% for men and 51.8% for women.
