Private car imports rose 13% to 12,129 units; Commercial vehicles imports rose by 25% to 1,242 units; Trucks and tractors imports rose by 5.9% to 560 units. This is due to the stronger Shekel
 
The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported last week that imports of electrical, durable goods and cars rose in November due to the stronger shekel.
 
The CBS noted that the Shekel gained 8.5% against the US Dollar compared with rate of exchange in November 2005.
 
Private car imports rose 13% to 12,129 units; Commercial vehicles imports rose by 25% to 1,242 units; Trucks and tractors imports rose by 5.9% to 560 units; Imports of motorcycles and scooters was down by 7% to 943 units.
 
The CBS also noted that the value of new private car imports rose by 25% to US$213 million in November.
 
The value of home electrical appliances rose in November by 9.5% to US$25 million and the value of imported home electronic entertainment products rose in November by 12% to US$28 million.
 
Electrical goods imports also rose: Imports of refrigerators rose in November by 25%, to 16,245 units; Washing machines rose by 11%, to 19,285 units; Dishwashers rose by 5.2% to 4,932 units; DVDs rose by 38% to 35,314 units, and Dryers rose 38%, to 10,976 units; TV sets imports fell 1% to 32,592 units, and Imports of VCRs fell 22% to 1,690 units.
