ECA International: Tel Aviv Mideast's most expensive city

In a recent annual cost of living report survey, released by ECA International, Tel Aviv was ranked the 29th-most expensive city for foreign nationals in the world, down from 18th place in 2010. Tel Aviv is thus the most expensive city in the Middle East.
 
The figures were taken from ECA International’s Cost of Living Survey, which calculates the cost of living allowances for international assignees based on surveys that are carried out annually in March and September using a basket of day-to-day goods and services.
 
Since the study addresses the needs of foreign travelers and employees, the housing, education and transportation indices were not included. Jerusalem made the 33rd place, leaving behind metropolises like Vienna (34th place) and even New York's Manhattan (44th place). The next Middle Eastern city in the report, which reviews 400 cities worldwide, is Dubai, which is ranked 175th. 
 
The most expensive city in the world for the second consecutive year, is Tokyo according to the survey.
