The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported that Israel's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.1% in July to 102.4 points.

 

The CBS noted that CPI rose 0.3% in June and 0.1% in May and has risen 0.3% over the past 12 months, below the government's 1-3% inflation target range.

 

Since the start of 2014, the CPI has fallen 0.1%. There were notable rises in prices of fresh fruit and vegetables (1.9%), transport (1%), and housing costs (0.9%). There was a steep drop in prices of clothing and footwear (7.5%), furniture and household equipment (1.4%), culture and entertainment (0.6%), and food (0.4%). If housing costs are excluded, prices actually declined by 0.5% over the past year.

 

There was a steep drop, 7.5%, in the price of clothing and shoes while the cost of books rose by 9.3%.
