The Central Bureau of Statistics again reported negative inflation - February's Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped by 0.3%, after falling 0.5% in January 2016.

Outstanding price falls in February included fresh vegetables 7.8%, clothing and footwear 3.9%, communications 1%, and public transport 1%, domestic electricity prices shrunk by 4.6% and internet services' prices fell 4.3%. Fresh fruit, however, noted a 9.1% increase.

Breads added 0.9%, cellular services' prices rose by 0.7% and meats added 0.6%.

Over the past 12 months, the CPI fell 0.2% although it has fallen 0.8% in the first two months of 2016, fuelled by the fall in world oil prices. This is well below the government's inflation target range of between 1% and 3%.
