David Castel, Managing Director of Israel Scandinavian Maritime Agency (Israscan), and Sweden's honorary consul, was elected to be the president of the Haifa Chamber of Commerce.
Castel has replaced Dr. Gad Schaefer, who served as president for the last six years.
Until his election, Castel served as vice president of the Chamber of Shipping of Israel. David Castel served in the IDF tank corps, reaching the rank of major in the army reserves.
David Castel M.Sc., Sweden's honorary consul and holder of the Swedish knighthood Royal Order of the North Star, which was awarded by His Excellency King Karl Gustaf XVI of Sweden. The Swedish knighthood was presented to Castel in recognition of his work on behalf of Sweden, for having promoted Swedish economic interests in Israel for many years.
