The Israel Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported that unemployment rate in Israel decreased for the fourth consecutive month to 6.1% (226,000) in August of 2013, from 6.2% in July of 2013.

The unemployment rate fell from 6.8% in April to 6.1% in August - a 20-year low (under the Central Bureau of Statistics' new methodology). Israel unemployment rate averaged 8.11% from 1992 until 2013, reaching an all-time high of 11.4% in March of 1992 and a record low of 5.4% in December of 2011.

In Israel, the unemployment rate measures the number of people actively looking for a job as a percentage of the labor force.
