Histadrut Chairman Avi Nissankorn announced at a press conference that the Histadrut demands reduction in number of contract workers in government ministers and public sector and said that a general strike will be held July 22.

Nissankorn explained that there has been no progress in his negotiations with finance ministry officials concerning the Histadrut’s demand for a reduction in the number of contract workers in government ministries and the public sector in general.

"The workers are the country's infrastructure. They pull it forward, and many of them do it from faith - someone who studied to be a nurse did it in order to serve the public, and someone who set out to become a teacher did it out of faith. They should not be treated like contract labor. The Ministry of Finance is destroying the country's infrastructure," Nissenkorn added.
