The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) reported that unemployment rate in Israel increased to 5% in May of 2015 from 4.80% in April of 2015.

 

Unemployment Rate in Israel averaged 7.66% from 1992 until 2015, reaching an all time high of 11.40% in March of 1992 and a record low of 4.90% in April of 2015. In Israel, the unemployment rate measures the number of people actively looking for a job as a percentage of the labor force.

 

The CBS noted that the number of employed increased 0.1% to 3.643 million, with 60.9% of those aged 15 and over having jobs, unchanged from April. Full-time employment gained 0.5%, while part-time employment also rose 0.5% in May.The participation rate in the labor force of those 15 and older rose to 64.1% in May from 64.0% in April.

 

The Central Bureau of Statistics also reported that the number of those employed full-time (35 hours a week or more) was 5.9% higher than in April (136,000 more employees), while the number of part-time employees (less than 35 weekly hours) declined by 3.5% in comparison to April (34,000 fewer employees).
