Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic made the first official visit for a Serbian prime minister to Israel.

 

Vucic's historic visit to Israel during which he met Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven ivlin, reflects the friendship between the Israelis and Serbian people, as well as commitment to closer relations between the two countries.

 

Vucic started this two-day visit on Monday by going to the Yad Vashem memorial complex in Jerusalem and by meetings with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin, after which he attended a tree planting ceremony in the Garden of the Righteous Among Nations.

In September 29, 2010 an agreement on abolishing visas between Serbia and Israel came into force. The citizens of Serbia with national passports are exempted from visa obligation for visits and stays in Israel of up to three months.

 

The agreement is a confirmation of good relations between the two countries both at the governmental level and between the two peoples.The abolition of visas resulted in significant increase in the number of tourists as well as in the volume of economic activity.
