Export Institute director Yechiel Assia said last week that The Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute had decided to coordinate efforts to assist the Israeli wine industry to boost exports to Europe.
Assia noted that the institute will organize this year a wine tasting event in London, with the participation of eighteen Israeli wineries. Assia said that similar events had been held in 2004 in Stockholm and Paris, and had been highly successful.
Sources at the Export Institute said that Israeli made wines will be presented during the event to journalists and to potential buyers, distributors, restaurant owners, wine merchants. Wine exports to Europe grew 37% to $4.5 million in 2004, while Israel’s total wine exports were up 22% to $13.6 million .
During the wine tasting London event the industry will be represented by: Efrat Wine Cellars, Barkan Wine Cellars, Carmel Mizrachi, Binyamina Wine Cellars, Golan Heights Winery, Galil Mountain Winery, Dalton Winery.
In addition to the well established Wineries some small Boutique wineries such as Bazelet Hagolan, Tzora Vineyards, Saslov Winery will participate under a co-brand "Handcrafted Wines of Israel"
