The aim of the meeting was to organize a workshop with Civil Servants and Chamber of Commerce executives from Arab countries
 
Representatives of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce participated in a joint workshop entitled "improving business culture and creation of better investment climate for the EU Southern Neighbours". the workshop was held in Tunisia with colleagues from Arab countries.
 
The event was organized by the European Commission’s DG Enlargement within the framework of the TAIEX (Technical Assistance Information Exchange Instrument of the European Commission) Instrument.
 
The aim of the meeting was to organize a workshop with Civil Servants and Chamber of Commerce executives from Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia. Israel and Tunisia do not have diplomatic relations currently.
 
The Israeli representatives Mr. Raz Hilman, the Federation's director of food, electrical and electronics industries, and Mr.Ronen Solomon, director of finances and capital market industries, suggested that removing bureaucratic obstacles and expanding Israeli investment in the region, based on Israeli industrial center models established in Jordan and Egypt, with U.S. involvement, would be one way to promote investment in Middle East countries.
 
The event was opened with welcome addresses by M. Mounir Mouakhar, President of the Tunis Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and EC representative.
 
Main lectures were given by Dr Alaa E. Ezz, Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations - Overview of the Euro- Mediterranean economic integration process & Education and training for entrepreneurship, how to develop an entrepreneurial spirit at school levels and within the Companies; role of public authorities and business organizations, by Margarete Rudzki,  Eurochambers.
