Mr. Oded Feller, president of the Haifa Chamber of Commerce called upon Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Industry Trade and Labor Ehud Olmert to consider Haifa as a host city for the Israeli Jordanian economic conference.
Feller's request followed last week's agreement between Olmert and the Jordanian Foreign Minister, Hani al-Mulki to convene a bilateral economic conference within a month.
Feller added that the Haifa Chamber of Commerce is presently formulating an economic conference to discuss the renewed trade relations between Israel, Jordan and Egypt. Feller added that the Haifa Chamber of Commerce, being part of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce maintains extremely good contacts with the Amman chamber of commerce.
Feller added that Haifa is the most suitable place owing to its historical economic relations with Jordan. The fact that most bilateral projects will be in the north of the country, Haifa has an advantage over any other city being located on the main route to Jordan.
