Ron Kobrovsky, Manufacturers Association's Food Industries Association chairman and managing director of Central Bottling Co. said last week that in January-September 2005, Israel’s food exports rose by 18.4% to $497 million.
 
Dairy exports, including ice cream, rose by 130%, baked goods (crackers, cookies, pastries) exports by 30%, and chocolates by 36%.
 
Kobrovsky said that the growth in food exports can be attributed to rising demand for specialized food products in international markets.
 
In a press release issued by the Manufacturers Association's Food Industries Association the Association noted that in January-September dairy exports, including ice cream, totaled $18.6 million, baked goods exports totaled $40.4 million, and chocolate exports totaled $7.5 million. Meat and poultry exports was up in January-September by 9.3%, to $40.1 million, and wine and alcoholic beverages exports were up by 7.6% to $9.9 million.
 
According to the Manufacturers Association's Food Industries Association exports in January-September to the EU was up by 16.6% to $229.6 million and to the US by 30.4% to$59.2 million.
