A co-operation agreement between the French Postal service La Poste and the Israeli A.M.A Air Mail Express was signed last week.
The co-operation agreement has provided A.M.A the sole rights to handle postal items from Israel to worldwide destinations through La Poste's postal handling systems, including countries with which Israel has no diplomatic relations. La Poste is Europe’s second-largest postal group. It ranks number 2 in the European mail sector, with turnover of EUR 10.06 billion.
It is Europe’s number 3 in parcels with turnover of EUR 2.94 billion, and France’s number 3 in retail banking with net banking income of EUR 3.928 billion. Operating through 17,028 customer outlets, it is also Europe’s largest local service network. Mail accounts for 59% of La Poste group’s business.
Business clients, for whom mail is the chief means of contact with their customers, account for 90% of the 25 billion mail items delivered by La Poste each year. While the volume of mail traffic is stable, the main vectors of growth in this sector today are corporate client services, admail and international mail. Parcels and logistics (15%).
La Poste group is Europe’s number 3 in the parcels sector, with a 10% market share. Via its holding company, GeoPost, it controls a delivery network covering some 20 countries. GeoPost is market leader in parcels in France, number 2 in Germany and number 4 in the United Kingdom.
These activities are built around Europe’s most widespread and dense with 17,028 customer outlets. Mr. Shlomi Einy, director general of AMA said in a press release that the co-operation with La Poste will guarantee a transparent door to door service through La Poste main sorting hub in Paris.
A.M.A offers two tailor made postal services: standard delivery as well as express mail delivery services. A.M.A is a private company licensed by the Israeli communication ministry to carry and distribute mail items overseas. The company compete with the Israeli postal service.
