ICC Chairman met during his two-day visit to Israel with Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister, Shimon Peres and with prominent members of Israel’s business community
During a meeting held last week in Jerusalem between ICC Chairman Marcus Wallenberg and the Israeli Foreign Minister, Tzipi Livni, an agreement was reached on the urgent need to successfully conclude the Doha round of multilateral trade negotiations.
According to sources at the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Wallenberg stressed that for small countries such as Israel, reaching agreement on the Doha Round is essential to boost economic growth, create jobs and lift standards of living.
During his two-day visit to Israel, Mr. Wallenberg delivered a speech at a “Cyber Terror” conference at the Dan Hotel, organized by ICC Israel, Comsec Security and the Israeli Chamber of Commerce in Tel Aviv.
Mr. Wallenberg also met with Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister, Shimon Peres, and discussed the important role that private-sector trade and investment play in the global economy and in prospects for peace in the Middle East.
Additional meetings were held with Israeli Minister of Tourism Itzahk Herzog, Governor of the Bank of Israel Stanley Fischer, and Israeli Chief of Staff General Gabi Ashekenazi. In addition, ICC’s Chairman met with prominent members of Israel’s business community, including Eitan Wertheimer, President of Iscar, and Michael Strauss, Chair of the Executive Board of Strauss Group.
