According to the IEI, between January and August, bilateral trade between the two countries was up 26%, totaling US$2.8 billion
 
According to statement issued last week by the Israel Export Institute (IEI), despite poor diplomatic relations between Israel and Turkey in 2011, trade between the two countries was up this year.
According to the IEI, between January and August, bilateral trade between the two countries was up 26%, totaling US$2.8 billion.

Turkish Statistical Institute, or TurkStat, figures that trade between Israel and Turkey increased by 25% between 2009 and 2010, and by 40% in the first quarter of 2011 compared with the same period last year.

Bilateral trade by the end of last year peaked at US$3.442 billion, up from US$2.580 billion in 2009.

Turkey made exports worth US$2.083 billion while importing US$1.359 billion worth of goods from Israel last year.

In the first three months of 2011, Turkey exported products worth $579.3 million to Israel and imported goods worth $397.3 million
Israel's biggest export to Turkey is chemicals, a total of 52% of all Israeli exports to the country.

 

Other products Israel exports to Turkey include plastics, rubber products, machinery, metals, minerals, paper and cardboard, textiles, agricultural products, and other items.
Most of the Israeli products going to Turkey are meant for industrial use.

Imports from Turkey also grew during the period, by 23%, making Turkey Israel's eighth largest source for imports.
