Israel-Asia Chamber of Commerce announced last week the setting up of Israel – Indonesia bilateral chamber of commerce. In a statement issued by the Israel-Asia Chamber it noted that the new chamber intend to boost bilateral ties. Israel and Indonesia have no formal diplomatic ties.
Mr.Emanuel Shahaf, Chief Executive Officer Technology Asia Consulting Ltd. was elected as the Chairman Israel-Indonesia Chamber of Commerce.
It was disclosed last week that an Israeli business delegation recently visited Indonesia with the aim to strengthen business ties between the two countries.
Anat Katz, an Israeli commercial attache' in Singapore said it took three years to build a business relationship that would be permitted by law in Israel and Indonesia to facilitate the trip. The visit was organized by the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute and the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry.
The volume of trade between Israel and Indonesia stood at $47.8 million in the first half of 2009 – a 60% drop compared to the same period last year. The volume of exports in the first half of the year totaled $5.2 million.
