Survey carried out by the economic department of the Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce and published late last week prior to Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Israel showed that Israeli trade with Russia totaled $550 million in 2004.

In addition, the chamber noted that Israel bought $1.5 billion worth of energy products from Russia.

Mr. Uriel Lynn president Federation of Israeli Chambers of Commerce said in a press release that Putin's visit to Israel "is a rare opportunity for boosting bilateral trade".

Lynn noted that Israel's trade with Russia, excluding diamonds, services, and energy products, rose by 55% from $353 million in 2001 to $550 million in 2004. Lynn added that Russian economic stability was highly important for global stability.
