Currently, the import American manufacturer's standards cars was allowed from US, Canada and Mexico
Israel Katz, Israel's Minister of Transport and Road Safety, signed an order opening the market for the import of cars made in Japan and South Korea that comply with American manufacturing standards.
The order means that the carmakers' official importers will be able to offer new cars made around the world that meet US standards.
Currently, US standard cars may be imported only from members of NAFTA - the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
With the Ministry's recognition of US standards for non-American cars, the big winners will be importers of Japanese and Korean car manufacturers, who will be able to import cars made for the US market.
Minister of Transport Katz noted that due to the new order, the verity of imported cars will widen in the near future, increasing competition as well as selection to the Israeli consumers.
Israel's market now open to import of worldwide US compliant cars
