In a detailed report the CBS noted that 76% of the population, 5,368,000 were Jews, 1.4 million were Arabs - 19.5% of the population, and 306,300 other citizens. Other citizens are classified as immigrants and their families who live in Israel under the Law of Return, but are not registered as Jews.
The CBS also noted that over the last 12 months, the Israeli population grew by 118,000 people, or 1.7%.
Over the past year, 19,120 new immigrants arrived in Israel, the lowest number in the last 20 years. Out of the newcomers 43% came from Russia and CIS countries , 17% from Ethiopia, 13% from France and the rest from other Western and South American countries including the US, Canada, Argentina and Britain.
