Data covering 2009 business results published last week by Israel vehicle importers association show that throughout 2009 total car deliveries was 172,715, a drop of 11% compared with 2008 during which 194,226 cars were delivered and 9% less than number ofcars delivered in 2007 (191,121).
 
Mazda ranked first in cars deliveries in 2009 with 31,494 cars compared with 2008 during which the company delivered  31,461 cars.
 
Hyundai was ranked second with 20,305 deliveries up by 281 cars compared to 2008.
 
Toyota was ranked third with 18,401 deliveries in 2009 a drop of 9% compared to 2008 (20,334).
Audi registered an increase of 28% in deliveries, 1,376 in 2009 compared to 977 in 2008. Volvo also registered an increase of 16% in deliveries, 1,197 in 2009 compared with 1,003 in 2008. BMW registered an increase of 20% in deliveries 950 in 2009 comparedto 757 in 2008.
 
Despite the overall drop the fourth quarter of 2009 was one of the strongest quarters ever for the Israeli vehicle sector, preliminary figures indicate that about 49,000 vehicle were sold, nearly double the sales for the corresponding quarter of 2008.
 
Last-minute sales in the final days of the year, brought aggregate deliveries for December to over 17,000.
