Arrest of sevearl suspects who apparently evaded payment of purchase tax on imported airconditioning units followed the investigation. Two prominent importers were arrested others will be arrested soon.
According to the customs authorities, several importers misdeclared dozens of containers, in which complete airconditioning units were stuffed, as being parts of airconditioning units.

Customs Authorities revealed that the successful investigation was triggered by the newly installed automatic computerized risk analysis, profiling system which indicated suspected fraud upon the clearance of 14 imported containers.
The computerized system re-routed the containers to the container scanning unit which indicated a clear picture of the contents.
At present some 50 suspected containers are held by the Customs.
