An Israeli trade delegation of nine companies visited Belgrade last week for a series of business meetings with Serbian businessmen.
 
The visit was organized by the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute (IEICI), the Israeli embassy in Serbia, and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
 
In a press release the IEICI predicted that business meetings during the visit would generate over $10 million in business in the next twelve months.
 
The IEICI added that 120 Israeli companies are currently active in Serbia, 60% more than in 2004.
 
The delegation includes Baran Group, Bateman Engineering, Huliot Pastic Industries, Leshem Shahak Communication Engineering, Motorola Israel, Netafim, the Tahal group, and Ramot Elram Management.
 
Members of the delegation took part during the visit in a joint seminar with leading Serbian companies, senior government ministers, and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
 
According to statistics released by the IEICI, exports to Serbia, excluding diamonds, were down 6% to $5 million in the first quarter of 2005. Exports of chemicals and refined oil products jumped 111% to $2.3 million, and exports of telecommunications equipment were up 46% to $1.3 million. Imports from Serbia, excluding diamonds, grew 28% to $8 million.
