Israeli customs to increase cooperation with S. Korea Customs Service

The parties discussed ways to mutually recognized various export programs in order to promote the seamless movement of goods through secure international trade supply chains
 
Yong Suk Hur, commissioner of Korea Customs Service, visited Israel last week to discuss ways and means to increase co-operation between the two customs authorities.
 
The visit - the first since the two countries signed an agreement between Customs Authorities in September 1996 - was aimed to further increase working relations between the two authorities.
 
The visiting commissioner and Mr. Doron Arbeli, head of the Israel's Customs Directorate, signed a protocol to increase exchange of information and better co-operation between the two Customs administrations in order to improve their capability to detect high risk consignment.
 
Arbeli said in a press release that the new protocol establish standards that provide supply chain security and facilitation at a global level to promote certainty and predictability.
 
Both parties also discussed ways to enhance the role, function and capabilities of Customs to meet the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century and ways for streamlining customs audits through the reduction of audit procedures and types of audits. The parties also discussed ways to mutually recognized various export programs in order to promote the seamless movement of goods through secure international trade supply chains.
 
The visiting delegation toured Allenby / King Hussein Bridge, a busy border crossing on the Jordanian Israeli border, 57 km away from Amman and 30 km from Jerusalem.
