Avraham Daniel, secretary-general of the Flower Growers Association said last week that due to Easter holiday being close to the Jewish Passover, the demand for flowers was running high.
According to Daniel, the demand had caused a rise of about 10% in the prices of flowers in the Dutch flower markets.
The flowers most in demand are roses, gerberas, gypsophilas, white lilies, lisiantus and hypericum.
The 2007 winter season of the Israeli flower growers ended with an increase of
more than 10% in proceeds compared to the 2006 winter.
In 2006, approximately 47 million flowers were exported from Israel and the proceeds were over 7 million Euro, while in 2007 approximately 55 million flowers have been exported and proceeds were estimated at 9 million Euro.
