A few days before the visit to Israel by Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan due shortly, the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodities Exchanges (TOBB) hosted a joint delegation of leaders of Israel and Palestinian economic organizations in Ankara.
 
The purpose of the visit was mainly to promote trade relations between Israel and Turkey. The delegation met with P.M.Erdogan and leaders of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
 
The Israeli-Palestinian delegation included eight Palestinian Chambers of Commerce heads, former Israeli Ambassador to Turkey Uri Bar-Ner, Israel-Turkey Business Council chairman and former Ministry of Foreign Affairs director-general Dr. Alon Liel, and Association of Contractors and Builders in Israel chairman Aharon Cohen.
 
Rifat Hisarciklioglu. TOBB Chairman said in a press release that “As political efforts are continuing to seek a solution to the region’s problems, business circles must also get closer to each other,”
 
Annual trade between the two countries now amounts to over US$1.4 billion, excluding the defense sector.
 
More than 320,000 Israeli tourists (8% of the Israeli population) visit Turkey annually for vacations.Last year, the two sides signed an agreement for Turkey to sell to Israel more than 50 million cubic meters of water annually for the next 20 years.
