On the eve of annual general meetings of the Tel Aviv – Jaffa Chambers of Commerce (FICC), to be held on Wednesday 10th 2007, the president of the Chamber, Mr. Uriel Lynn, said that rapid developments in the Israeli economy, over the last 4 years, created massive increase in demand for workers, estimated to reach as many as 200,000 employees.

According to macroeconomic analysis, for the period 2004 – 2007, published by the FICC, the trade & services sector added 146,000 new employees.

The chamber's economic department has forecast that until the end of 2007, 50,000 more employees will be added.

Lynn noted that the trade and services sector is responsible for 72% of the jobs created over the last 4 years. He added that the expansion in the trade and service sector helped to a great extent to absorb many new employees solving some of the country's unemployment problems.
