In the first quarter of 2007, 146 million T shirts were imported, an increase of 13 times more compared to the parallel period last year
 
According to representative of textile division of the Israeli Manufacturers Association, bulk imports of textile from China, at cheap prices, is causing serious harm to the industry.
 
The representative noted that in the first three months of 2007, 174 millions of textile items were imported, an increase of 5 times compared with the first quarter of 2006. Total value of textile imported from China in the three months period was US$40.5 million.

In total, in the first quarter of 2007 Israel imported 4 times ( 190 million items ) as many textile items compared to the parallel period in 2006 46 million items. Total value of textile imported to Israel was US$85 million, an increase of 19.5% compared to the first quarter of 2006.
