The Minister of Finance, Benjamin Netanyahu, had visit London this week on his way back to Israel from the United States. Mr. Netanyahu flew to the U.S. late last week to take part in the annual Israel Bonds event, held in Boca Raton, Florida.
In London, Mr. Netanyahu met with his British counterpart, Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown, and appear at a large investors' conference. His purpose at the conference was to give investors a detailed presentation on Israel economic developments and to encourage financial institutions in London to widen the scope of investments in Israel.
Prior to his meetings in London, en route to Florida, the Minister of Finance stopped in New York and gave the American economic media a lengthy series of interviews. Mr. Netanyahu also used these opportunities to promote foreign investment in Israel and stressed that the acquisition of Israel Discount Bank by nonresidents is a vote of confidence in the Israeli economy.
The Minister of Finance added with emphasis that the Government will continue to implement its economic policy, especially in the promotion of reforms, even after the Labor Party has joined the coalition.
