The Employment Services: The number of new jobseekers, including newly unemployed, rose by 1.2%, there is a large number of requests for workers
The National Employment Service reported last week that in July 2010 the number of jobseekers fell by 0.3% to 304,300, seasonally adjusted, compared with the 205,770 jobseekers in June.
The breakdown of jobseekers by location shows that 41.1% came from Arab communities and development towns. 25.4% of all jobseekers were in Arab communities (53,085), and 15.7% were in development towns (31,951).
Yossi Farhi, directorgeneral of the Government's National Employment Service, said in a press release that: "The Employment Services' figures for July show the four following trends: first, the number of unemployed continued to fall, albeit more slowly than in preceding months; second, the number of new jobseekers, including newly unemployed, rose by 1.2%; third, a drop in the number of applicants for income support; and fourth, a large number of requests for workers”.
