The new Defense Export Control Division in the Ministry of Defense commenced its activity this week.

The new division signifies a major change in the Ministry's handling of export control matters. Under the new structure licensing, control and enforcement of the defense export from Israel will be separated from marketing and promotion activities.

The new division will also be in charge of outreach activities to individuals and companies involved in defense export.

These activities will include instructing them on the nature of laws, regulations and procedures governing this realm of activity.

The Defense Export Control Division will work in close cooperation with other relevant ministries including the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Foreign Ministry.
The new division is expected to upgrade the export control procedures in line with the commonly practiced export control standards.

The new division will be headed by Mr. Eliezer (Eli) Pincu who has been an employee of the Ministry since 1970. Upon his nomination he will terminate his post as Head of the Israeli Ministry of Defense Mission in Paris.
