New in Israel: Merkavim developed a business class bus

About US$ 230,000 were invested in the development of the new bus which includes a separate conference room, multimedia devices, office equipment and more

The Merkavim company, a local manufacture of superior buses and coaches for public and private passenger transport, announced last week that it ended the development and production of an executive designed bus, similar to an airplane's business class.

Founded in 1946, Merkavim employs state of the art technologies to produce a full range of transport solutions that combine high quality and comfort.

Merkavim CEO Micha Micksner said that over the last two years about US$ 230,000 were invested in the development of the new bus which includes a separate conference room, multimedia devices, office equipment, adjustable comfortable seats and food services.

He noted that Merkavim plans to offer the new bus to companies in Europe and the Middle East.

He estimated that the company would export approximately 30 such buses in 2007.
In a press release the company noted that the bus can be rented for USD 600 a day and can contain up to 34 passengers. Normal bus rent in Israel costs between US$350 and US$400 a day.

Merkavim uses Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, MAN and DAF chassis and fabricates bodies entirely in long-lasing stainless steel. With the unique quality of almost total resistance to corrosion, needing none of the extra preventative measures like cleaning baths, acid treatments etc. traditionally employed before vehicles go into service, stainless steel keeps maintenance expenses down to a minimum.

With experience of six decades, Merkavim has earned ISO 9001 certification and international reputation for uncompromising quality and reliability. The company manufactures in compliance with the strictest European manufacturing and safety standards, including EC R66 anti-rollover standard. Merkavim turns out hundreds of vehicles each year.
