The Israeli Motor Vehicles Importers Association which comprises of Israel's regular motor vehicle import agencies said last week that 14,741 motor vehicles were delivered in October 2011, 26% less than in October 2010.

In a press release the association noted that the relatively sharp drop was partly due to the timing of the New Year Jewish holidays, which mainly fell in October this year, compared with September last year. The association also noted that government offices responsible for releasing vehicles were closed during the entire holiday period.

The statement also noted that during January-October 193,314 motor vehicles were delivered including 161,337 private cars, 9.4% more than in the corresponding months of last year.

The breakdown of deliveries by manufacture in January-October was: in the first place South Korea's Hyundai Motor Company, had the most deliveries in January-October - 27,843 deliveries, 11% than in the corresponding months.

Japan's Mazda Motor Corporation fell to second place, with 19,124 deliveries in January-October, down 26%.

Toyota Motor Corporation was in third place, with 16,647 deliveries, down 9%. Korea's Kia Motors Ltd. rose to fourth place, with 13,294 deliveries, up 87%.

Korea's Chevrolet rose to fifth place, with 12,224 deliveries, up 46%.
