23 Israeli companies will participate in a trade delegation headed by Mr. Ehud Olmert Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade & Industry, which will visit South Africa (SA) between October 19th – 23rd
In a press release by the Israel Export Institute, the organizer of the delegation, Mr. Asia the director general of the institute said that the institute is currently evaluation the opening of an Israeli Trade Center in South Africa which will assist in widening bilateral trade relations.
Exports to South Africa, excluding diamonds, will increase by 5% in 2004 and will total us$140 millions. Some 840 Israeli companies are currently active in SA.
During January July 2004 exports was us$81 millions. up 6% compared to the corresponding period last year.
Imports, excluding diamonds, in January – July was us$207.4 millions, up 38% compared to the corresponding period last year.
Asia added that several commercial sectors will be represented in the delegation :agro-technology, agro-industry, telecommunication & software, construction, professional services, mining, security and safety.
Asia also added that within the framework of fostering trade with SA the Israel Export Institute will set up a pavilion at the AFRICA AID, DISASTER @ MANGEMENT RELIEF exhibition, 12th – 14th October, which is dedicated to UN humanitarian and assistance program in Africa.
