H.E. Mr. Ram Aviram, Israeli ambassador to Greece, gave last week, in a ceremony in honor of the companies that were involved in the Olympic project a letter of appreciation signed by Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Ehud Ulmert.
 
15 Israeli & Greek firms received the letter in appreciation of their involvement in the project and their contribution to the strengthening of industrial and commercial ties between the two countries.
 
In his address to the participants Mr. Ram emphasized that the Olympic project was a unique and valuable business opportunity for both Israelis and Greeks, not only in establishing excellent contact in Greece but also for possible co-operation in the next Olympic games.
 
The ambassador added that trade relations between the two countries were developing positively and that in so far as bilateral trade was concerned, Greece was listed among the eight most important European countries.
 
High ranking officials from the Greek government were present as well as representatives from the Olympic committee and representatives from the Israeli companies: Motorola, Elbit, Netafim, Palram & ISDS.
 
The Greek companies that received the letter of appreciation were: Hellenic Shipyards SA ; One Siemens(Greece);Yialipsos Ltd; Gallop Skylight ; ISDS Hellas; Prometheus Gas (Greece); TheonSensors SA.
 
Mr. Michael Huri, israel's trade representative to Greece said in the ceremony that israel's involvement in the project reached us$220 million mainly in the fields of security, telecommunication, environment and construction. Israeli shipyard won a us$80 million project to build 3 patrol ships for the Greek coast guard in collaboration with a Greek ship yards.
