A group of businessmen from Pakistan have registered to visit the international agriculture expo “Agritech 2006”. Members of the group are interested in the possibility of purchasing agricultural machinery and technologies which were developed in Israel. Most of areas in Pakistan are charactarized with extreme climate which is variable from desert-like climate, and high mountain areas. The businessmen are interested in signing deals to buy hothouses, watering equipment, advanced machinery and other developments which can ease difficulties for Pakistani farmers and raise produce.
Agritech CEO, Danny Meiri, said that the expo administration were surprised to find out that the Pakistani businessmen did not try to conceal their identity and gave full details as names and the companies they represent, including address and phone numbers. Meiri said that these days the expo administration has contacted the consular department at the foreign Affair office in order to issue visas for the guests. In addition to this, the administration is informing the border police about the Pakistani guests since they are not used to visitors from this country.
Meiri said the expected guests from Pakistan are not the only ones, and that among 6,500 visitors that are expected at the expo, about 50 other visits from Arab and muslim countries which do not have diplomatic relations with Israel are expected. Until now registered guests from Afganistan, Albenia, Morocco, Jordan, Tanzania, Malezia and indonesia – the biggest Muslim country in the world.
In order to make life easy for Arab guests, the expo management has integrated a chapter in Arabic on the website www.agritech.org.il, this on top pf 1o more languages. Until now there have been more than 750,000 enteries to the site from 121 countries. Among others there were enteries from Iran, Iraq and Syria but untul now they haven’t registered for the expo itself.
