Shraga Brosh, Manufacturers Association president and Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute chairman said last week that the Israeli security and safety industry is currently the best industrial sector of Israel's exports.
Brosh noted that in 2004 almost 100 security and safety companies had been set -up in Israel, an increase of 20%. Israel, according to Brosh, currently has well over 610 companies in the industry, spread over a variety of safety and security sectors. The number of security and safety exporters grew 20% to 350 in 2004.
Figures prepared by Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute show that the security and safety exports had totaled $1 billion in 2004, 65% more than in 2003. ($200 million of the total was related to the Athens Olympic Games).
Brosh noted that exports would grow by more than 25% in 2005, and could reach well over $2.5 billion a year, by the end of the decade. To reach the new export goal, the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute plans to publish an updated index of the Israeli security industry. In addition, the institute will prepare a public relations film.
The institute plans also to participate in security and safety industry exhibitions in Australia, Brussels, China - Beijing (for the 2008 Olympic Games) Paris (the Milipol Exhibition) and Mexico. It also prepares to participate in an international conference and exhibition in Rome, with the aim of helping Israeli exporters obtain security orders related to the 2006 Turin Winter Olympic Games.
